Using BT Broadband and canít send mail?

If youíre using BT Broadband, and a domain name hosted by us (or any other provider), you may find that you canít send mail. BT have recently made a change such that if youíre using their SMTP server for sending mail using any email program (e.g. Outlook, Windows Mail, Thunderbird etc.), this will now be blocked unless you are using a "from" email address of a BT Yahoo email address or a "validated alternative email address".

If you are having these problems, and you are using one of our hosting accounts, please follow the email account setup instructions on our website (click here) and make sure your SMTP server is set to mail.yourdomain.com (or .co.uk etc.).

Alternatively you can add your domain as a "validated alternative email address" by contacting BT - the relevant help page at BT is at http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/bt/mail/yahoomail/manage/sendfrom-07.html
